In 2024, lead-crystal batteries were applied to the first batch of fortress base stations put into use in China. The full name of the fortress base station is the new type of disaster-resistant fortress base station. It is designed for extreme disaster scenarios such as earthquakes, floods, typhoons, and ice and snow. It has specifically raised the construction standards for base station communication equipment, power supply, transmission, civil engineering, and installation techniques, thus having extremely high anti-damage capabilities and emergency communication support capabilities. The base station is equipped with a dedicated lead-crystal battery power supply system, which is required to support 4G equipment backup power for 48 hours in emergency situations, and the failure rate is 92% lower than that of lithium battery systems.
